About AHJS Choir
The Alamo Heights Junior School Choir is committed to inspiring a life-long passion for learning music. Our choirs are open to all students grades 6-8, beginner to advanced. We present concerts throughout the year, both on and off campus, as well as compete at contests such as UIL, Region Honor Choir, and Solo & Ensemble Competition. Our students create meaningful relationships with their peers in a culture of acceptance and support, and are given many field trip and social gathering opportunities throughout the school year. If you'd like to learn more about our program, please contact us or attend one of our concerts this year!
Choir Forms and Documents
About the DirectorRachel Holliday was brought up in Clear Lake, a suburb of Houston, TX. She was introduced to music at the age of 5 through classical piano lessons which she continued until the age of 18. In the 6th grade she joined choir and was inspired by her extraordinary teacher to pursue music education. In high school she was a 4-year Texas Music Scholar and a 2-year member of the TMEA All-State Mixed Choir.
After graduation, Mrs. Holliday moved to San Antonio to attend UTSA, where she received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education with a focus in Choral Studies. Following her graduation, she became the choir director at Ed White MS in NEISD. The following year she accepted the position of AHJS Choir Director and is now in her 7th year with the district. She currently serves as the AHJS Fine Arts Department Head and in 2018 she was named the TCDA Young Director of Distinction. She is happy to call San Antonio her home, with her husband Colton and their extremely spoiled cat Bodhi. |
